Our Leadership Team

Jerome Roberson, widely known as J. Wesley, is a respected gospel musician, minister of music, songwriter, and choir director with a music career spanning several decades. A U.S. Army veteran, Roberson is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, performer, and choral arranger, with a catalog of more than 100 composed songs to his credit.

While deeply anchored in the Texas gospel community, Roberson's career has spanned the country, including an influential chapter in the Atlanta, Georgia area. During his time there, he served as Worship Arts Director and Minister of Music for several prominent congregations in the region, leading large choral departments. He also founded and served as CEO and Worship Arts Director of LuvTaPrayz Music, Inc., through which he helped bring gospel ensembles to a broader national audience.

His work directing youth choirs has also earned national recognition: while in Atlanta, Roberson directed a youth choir that won a regional championship and went on to take the Grand Prize in a national junior choir competition, prevailing over entries from major markets including Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Detroit, and Chicago.

For over 30 years, Roberson has worked as a vocal coach, worship leader, and producer. In 1996, he founded the San Antonio Youth Ensemble (SAYE), which over a five-year run brought together approximately 800 young singers, performing at HBCUs, conventions, and churches across the country.

Roberson currently directs Magnification Ministries at a local church and is widely recognized for his work with the San Antonio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission Choir, which he has directed during the city's annual MLK Day celebrations. Through his production work under jwesley_productions, he has led numerous gospel recordings and praise events, including the live concert recording "Blessings of the Ark." He has also participated in civic music events such as the American Sunrise Gala and Celebrity Song Slam, supporting families on San Antonio's Westside.

In 2026, Roberson founded SAYExxi, Inc. to carry forward SAYE's legacy through the San Antonio Youth Academy of Music (SAYAoM), expanding on his original vision to include dance and technology alongside music.
